Wow, this week we seem to be blessed with a lot of cinematography from the continent of Africa, which I am proud to say is my motherland. Further to the story of Red Dust that I posted earlier, I stumbled across another film which comes from the motherland: We Are Together. This is a powerful real-life documentary which touches some of the areas which affect almost every African I know here in UK and back in Africa. I would highly recommend the documentary to anyone. It takes you on a roller-coaster of joy, laughter, sadness and other varied emotions. There is no better way to sum-up this film but by using this vignette below:

Tonight I had the pleasure of catching up with the BBC iPlayer and I stumbled across this feature presentation which I thought was brillant! - RED DUST! Red Dust is a 2004 drama film starring Hilary Swank and Chiwetel Ejiofor. It was directed by Tom Hooper. The story, written by Troy Kennedy-Martin, is based on the novel Red Dust by Gillian Slovo. Plot summary Sarah Barcant, a lawyer in New York City who grew up in South Africa, returns to her childhood dwelling place to intercede for Alex Mpondo, a Black South African politician who was tortured during apartheid. Under the Truth and Reconciliation terms, the whole truth must come out. As it is, under duress Alex had exposed one of his underground comrades, Steve Sizela, although Dirk Henricks, the local policeman, admits the latter was killed by his boss. The bones are found and dug from the ground; Alex decides to suggest amnesty as the whole truth has been said; the police chief, who denied the charges and pleaded not guilty, is sent to prison. The Truth & Reconciliation Truck, with men dancing a "toyi-toyi" at the back!

Last Sabbath I was jammin (as usual) and Azar told me to search for a particular name on the tinternet and I would find something very interesting...
As per my promise, I went trawling the massive land of the internet and guess who do I find there? Our very own Paul... Man, did I have a great time listening to these songs... I have to say, their harmonies are tight!!! I've found a link with the videos from that time and it was around the early to mid 90's.. Paul, you got mad skills man! Anyways, I thought I'd call him to let him know I found some of his early perfomances but Sonia (his wife) told me off for calling too late... Ah well, it shall have to wait till tomorrow then...
